The seal operates through a seamless connection between the robust stainless steel ring and the graphite centre, providing reliable performance at sea. The stainless steel ring attaches using headless screws, allowing it to rotate with the shaft, while the graphite component remains stationary on the seal.

This mechanical shaft seal can be easily fitted onto the sterntube using a rubber sleeve secured with clamps. It is compatible with standard sterntube sizes of 87 mm, and can also accommodate sterntubes of 70 mm, 2½ inches, or 3 inches with appropriate reducers.
